That machine was installed in the Edarview Health Resort in Maryland, its function was to change brain patterns of human beings, to make them slaves in service of the invaders, manipulating them with drugs. Everytime a person, whose brain had been modified by that machine had a thought which was opposed to their will, violent pains castigated his head, which were controlled only through the use of pills manufactured by them.

The first and only victim of that experiment was Lloyd Lindstrom, son of the physicist Curtis Lindstrom.

They tried to do the same with David Vincent, but he was saved by Lloyd Lindstrom, who was able to stuggle against the pains and destroyed the control room, throwing a chair into a power switchboard, which caused a short circuit followed by violent explosions and a fire, destroying the machine, the resort and the invaders responsible for its proper working.
